A Drawing A DayIn the fall of 1997 I began to arbitrarily move my pencil around on paper. This exercise helped transcend and extract meaning from the many distractions of the day. It also helped me transition from a lifestyle of single parenting and solitude to public school culture. Soon I became so consumed with the process that I committed to completing a 13" x 10" drawing a day. Many were given away to the people I drew. Three months later the imagery demanded larger paper and 13" x 20" Labyrinth of Paradox drawings emerged. The diversion from colour, chalk pastel and paint introduced new but welcome challenges. In 2002 I added chalk colour. |
